Our hardwood floor experts will work directly with you to choose the best wood, stain, finish, and feel for your floors. Before the installation, you’ll know exactly how long it will take, what to expect during the job, how waste materials are handled/disposed and who’s doing the work. Process of refinishing
Step 1. Species dependent, we’ll start with a grit that strips flooring down to fresh wood and working proper grit sequences up to 100 to 120 grit (All sanding equipment used will be run on a dustless vacuum system, also protecting areas needed with plastic during the process)
Step 2. Choose finish that is suitable to your needs and budget, options include custom stains, single and two component top of the line water base finishes, Swedish finish if customer desires, and hard wax penetrating oils.
Step 3. If choosing a water base product in most cases we’ll put a seal coat and two top coats on the floor. Between 2nd and 3rd coat we’ll abrade with 180 to 220grit paper to knock down grain raise and help with adhesion and smoothness.
If oil based we’ll do two to three coats based on product choice and abrade between each coat. Abrasion also helps with smoothness of final coats.
Step 4. Once the final product is on the floor we’ll walk you through how to properly protect your floor and leave you with a floor cleaner best used for the finished product to help with longevity and beauty of floor.
